The Monjoh’s Chilli Sauces and BraaiBoy story started sometime back in 2020, during the “good times” we called lockdown. Johan (the joh in monJOH’s), like almost everyone else in the country, was facing some uncertain times at his factories and found himself with a lot of extra time on his hands.
He had been making his chilli sauce for many many years. First it was for his lodge’s restaurant, and after he sold that it was just for friends and family. 2020 gave Johan the time to explore the idea of turning his Medium Chilli Sauce into a whole range of chilli sauces, and it was around this time that Johan and BraaiBoy met.
BraaiBoy was hosting weekly “Chicken Wing Challenges” at his Bistro in Hatfield, and Johan brought some of his sauces for us to sample. BraaiBoy loved the sauces so much that he decided to use Monjoh’s Chilli Sauce as his main ingredient for the next week’s challenge. BraaiBoy’s HotWings ended up winning that week’s challenge, and so a beautiful relationship between BraaiBoy and Monjoh’s was born.
BraaiBoy sill uses Monjoh’s exclusively in his Bistros and at his various festivals and events, and you will often find both Johan and BraaiBoy at events together. Smoking wings and coating them with delicious sauce to tickle your taste buds.
