The story of BraaiBoy’s Bistro (aka BB Bistro) goes back many years, and the next time you bump into BraaiBoy, he’ll gladly tell it to you over a beer or two.

BraaiBoy’s Bistro Locations
Over the years BraaiBoy has opened a number of Bistros. At the start of the Covid-19 lockdown there were 5 of them. Unfortunately, all but 1 perished during lockdown (but he opened a ‘temporary’ bistro at the The 420 Village). A few months after lockdown was (half) lifted the last original Bistro closed its doors as well… and then all that was left was the Bistro at The 420 Village.
BraaiBoy was working with Ketelkraal to create a joint venture with a liquor license for the 420 Bistro. In the meantime BraaiBoy & Bison had teamed up to create a new events catering company called Kindled Catering. A few months in, and we partnered with Ketelkraal in the catering company… and then it was a easy decision to take the next step: merging both Bison Bistro & BraaiBoy Bistro kitchens into the Ketelkraal TapRoom… and in Oct 2025 the new Ketelkraal Taproom 2.0 was reborn.
With a liquor license sorted and a hungry clientele welcoming the new smoked menu with open arms… Ketelkraal Taproom has positioned itself as THE place to be in Pretoria for a relaxed pub restaurant with the best smoked BBQ in Pretoria.
