This time next week I’ll be at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town, just about ready to kick off another Guinness World Record attempt. This time I’ll be taking on the team record for the longest continuous braai together with team mate Pieter van Dalen. Not only will Pieter & I be attempting to crack the team record, but Richard Knoetze will be taking on the solo record as well… That’s 2 epic braai records over 5 days on 1 stage all in support of BraaiPolar.
At the risk of sounding like some sort of infomercial, I need to tell you that wait… there’s more: At the same time we will be playing host a mini Braai Expo, acting as the stepping stone to an annual Braai Expo that will showcase Braai Innovation in South Africa in years to come. The objective of all of this is to raise funds and awareness for BraaiPolar, and all proceeds will be going to them, so bring your wallets and support the stalls as well.
So if you’re in Cape Town any time from 14-20 December, please make your way down to the V&A Waterfront (we’ll be there 24/7 braaing up a storm, so pull through at 04h00 in the morning if you must) and come say Hi.
We’d obviously prefer it if you came down and high-5’d us in person, but if you can’t do that, then catch all the action live on YouTube (Streaming for 5 continuous days that may be another Guinness World Record):
Of course I’ll be sharing a whole bunch of pics and behind-the-scenes arb videos on twitter, facebook & instagram as well… so make sure you’re following me there… and while you’re at it, make sure you’re following BraaiPolar (facebook & twitter) as well for even more cool content.
EDIT: We’re still looking for someone to hook us up with an “interview couch” as well as meat & veg to be sold in the stalls (we could even set you up with your own dedicated stall if you want to go big). You’re guaranteed some awesome exposure if you get involved… Besides the hordes of feet passing through the Waterfront, we’re expecting tons of media coverage in addition to the 13 cameras that will be on us at all times. So please get in touch if you’re keen.
What an awesome attempt. All of us at Formtech Industries wish you guys well and are holding thumbs that your attempt at breaking the record is successful. Keep on braaing…
Been a little busy (ok, lazy) since the attempt, so I just saw your message now 🙂
Thanks for all your support during the attempt… we wouldn’t have been able to pull it off like we did without you! *high-5*
