Firefighter Training – A BurnOut at Fireman’s Tavern

Last night I had the honour of attending a “Burnout”… This is what the guys over at Fireman’s Tavern in Modderfontein (Gauteng) call their monthly firefighter training/public display. It starts off with several hundred litres of jet fuel  being poured into and around several structures. Once lit, the flames quickly tower above the crowd reaching about 6 storeys and creating so much heat that a mid-winter’s evening felt like a summer’s day in the desert.

If you’ve never been, do yourself a favour and go check it out. It goes down (or up in this case) on the last Friday of every month. Go like the Fireman’s Tavern Facebook Page for announcements and details of the next Burnout.

And the cooler news is that soon I’ll be shooting a #BraaiBoyTV episode there… and if all goes to plan, I’ll be waltzing into the inferno carrying a steak on a pitchfork.
